We can no longer take our security for granted.
That was the clear message from the Prime Minister when she pointed to the growing threat to Denmark in her New Year's speech.
In particular, an increasingly aggressive and unpredictable Russia creates challenges that we must address. Decades of peace and stability in Europe have been shattered – and this requires action from all of us.
“The authorities recommend that everyone can manage for 72 hours without electricity, water or heat. This requires, among other things, an emergency radio, water rations and alternative heat sources” Source: The National Emergency Management Agency
It may seem overwhelming to find all the necessary elements for a complete home emergency kit.
That's why we at Preppers Pit have developed an emergency kit that makes it easy.
Emergency fund contains, among other things:
- Emergency radio with crank: Secures information even when the power goes out.
- Gas appliance and fuel: Makes it possible to cook without electricity.
- Drinking water bottles: Two 10 liter containers so you always have access to clean drinking water.
- First aid kit: Everything necessary for minor injuries and emergency needs.
- Faraday bag: Protects electronic devices from electromagnetic radiation.
And much more
It's all packed in a practical box that can be stored in a cupboard or on a shelf.
With the emergency fund in place, you are ready to handle power outages, supply crises or other unexpected events.
Who is Prepper's Pit?
Preppers Pit is Denmark's new community for the crisis-conscious – a kind of FDM for anyone who wants to take responsibility for their safety.
Prepping has previously been associated with extreme scenarios and bleak notions of the future.
We see it differently. For us, prepping is not about fear – but about security, responsibility and action. It is about (re)finding the joy of being able to fend for yourself and take control in an uncertain world.
We want to be the place where you can find trustworthy information, fact-checked articles, guides and tests that make it easier to take the right steps.
You can already read about everything from operate your emergency radio to store water or interviews with seasoned preppers. And we have much more on the way.
Our content is based on facts and research, the authorities' recommendations and expert knowledge from, among others, the National Food Institute of DTU and the Danish Emergency Management Agency.
Write to us hereif you have any questions about the home preparedness package or about prepping and preparedness in general.

3 good reasons why you should prep
You might think that prepping is only for doomsday prophets. We want to challenge that attitude! We are genetically coded to gather supplies, use our hands, and take care of each other, so it makes sense to rediscover your inner prepper.
1. The most important reason to protect yourself and your family in a crisis situation is that you reduce the pressure on emergency resources, so they can focus on those who really need help.
2. Prepping is also about taking care of what we have. You become more aware of your resources, perhaps getting into preparing long-lasting food, going hunting in nature's pantry... Prepping is a natural part of the sustainable agenda.
3. In a time before electricity and running water, prepping was just common sense and a part of everyday life. We don't have to go back to the Stone Age or live like the Amish. But it doesn't hurt to master some very basic skills, which modern life has made us forget… tying knots, lighting a fire or filling the pantry with jam jars.
A study from PwC in December 2024 showed that 65% of Danes consider the risk of crisis situations to be increasing, especially with a focus on threats such as cyberattacks that can paralyze critical infrastructure. But only about one in three Danes has prepared.
Maybe the time has come?
